Why have Breast Augmentation Surgery?

Women choose to have breast augmentation for different reasons. Some simply desire larger breasts. Others are looking to regain the breast volume they had prior to pregnancy or breast-feeding. During the procedure, an implant is placed underneath the breast tissue and the underlying chest muscles. Incisions are made in one of three locations: around the nipple areola complex, in the armpit or under the breast. Surgery is usually done under general anesthesia although it can be performed under local and sedational anesthesia if requested.

What will breast augmentation surgery do for me?

Breast augmentation will do what it is designed to do each and every time: It will make your breasts bigger. It can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence, but it won't necessarily change your looks to match your ideal, or cause other people to treat you differently. It also will not change your breasts or make them less droopy. Before you decide to have surgery, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them with your plastic surgeon. The best candidates for breast augmentation are women who are looking for improvement, not perfection, in the way they look. If you're physically healthy and realistic in your expectations, you may be a very good candidate for breast augmentation.

Who should have breast augmentation surgery?

We specialize in breast implants of all sizes and for women of all ages (over 18) and of all body types. Dr. Solomon primarily uses saline implants and is pleased to provide silicone implants which were recently approved by the FDA. We customize the type of implant and procedure to your needs.

How much time is spent recovering?

After your outpatient surgery, you will go home in an elastic band and ace bandage wrap. The band will help hold the implants in the correct position. Any post-surgical discomfort is controlled with oral medication. You will be asked to return to our office for weekly post-operative care. Your sutures are removed in approximately 3 weeks. Most people return to work or back to light activities in 7-10 days and you may resume exercise at about 3 weeks.

How will I know what my outcome will be?

After performing thousands of breast augmentations, and with the advent of digital photography, Dr. Solomon has cataloged hundreds of his pre- and post-operative photographs for his prospective patients to view. You may begin this process on this website by going to our photo gallery, and we will show you more views of these patients and the changes that occur over time when you come in for your consultation. Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

Thinking about Breast Lift Surgery?

Dr. Solomon and his qualified staff can help give you the information you need to make an informed decision. Dr. Solomon, a breast specialist, performs over 400 breast surgeries a year and with this type of experience he can offer the latest approaches to breast lift surgery using cutting edge technology.

Why have Breast Lift Surgery?

Women choose to have a breast lift when their breasts have become droopy due to past pregnancies, genetics or aging. This surgery is designed to remove the excess skin around the breast and lift the nipple-areolar complex into a more youthful position on the breast. It is also possible to reduce the size of the areolar during this surgery.

How is Breast Lift Surgery Done?

The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia. The nipple-areolar complex is repositioned higher, the excess skin is removed and the breast is reshaped. The design of the incisions (and ultimate scars) depends on the size and density of the breast as well as the amount of droop that is needed to be fixed. The incisions always include one completely around the nipple-areolar complex, often vertically down the breast and in the crease under the breast. This is a surgery very unique to each individual and Dr. Solomon will discuss your exact requirements with you.

How much time is spent recovering?

After your outpatient surgery, you will go home in a bulky ace bandage wrap. This wrap is worn for approximately one week. Any post-surgical discomfort is controlled with oral medication. Most people return to work or back to light activities in 7-10 days and you may resume exercise at about 3 weeks. Your sutures are removed in approximately 3 weeks.

Breast Reduction

Thinking about a Breast Reduction?

Dr. Solomon and his qualified staff can help give you the information you need to decide if this surgery is for you. If you are one of the millions of women who suffer with overly large breasts and grooves on her shoulders from bra straps that dig in due to overly large breasts or if you suffer from back ache, neck ache and shoulder ache, you are not alone. Breast Reduction surgery is designed to reduce the size of your breasts and re-contour the shape of your breasts. It will also free you from health problems associated with excessively large breasts.

How is Breast Reduction Surgery Done?

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis or in the hospital. Incisions (and ultimate scars) are made around the nipple-areolar complex and extend vertically below the nipple and in the fold under the breast. The nipple-areolar complex is moved vertically upward to the desired location and excess breast tissue, fat and skin are removed. This is a surgery very unique to each individual and Dr. Solomon will discuss your exact requirements with you.

How much time is spent recovering?

After your surgery the incisions are covered with light dressings, and the breasts are wrapped in an ace bandage. Any post-surgical discomfort is controlled with oral medication. Most people return to work or back to light activities in 1-2 weeks and you may resume exercise at about 4-6 weeks. Your sutures are removed in approximately 3 weeks. Scars will usually begin to fade in 6-12 months. Surgery will probably reduce and could eliminate the ability to breast feed.

Breast Revision Surgery

In 2006, over 300,000 women underwent breast augmentation surgery in the U.S. alone. It has become one of the procedures most frequently performed on women today.

Many of these women will choose to have revisional surgery performed for a variety of reasons. One of the main reasons is deflation of the breast implant. We recommend that you contact a board certified plastic surgeon as soon as you are aware that your implant has changed. Another common reason to seek revisional breast surgery is to remove or replace aged silicone implants. With the newly FDA approved silicone implants, many women may wish to take advantage of this newly designed implant. Some women choose to have revisional surgery to change the size of their original implants; to either a smaller or larger implant. Whatever the reason, Dr. Solomon and his highly qualified staff are available to answer your questions. During your consultation, Dr. Solomon will offer options for revision to help you make an informed decision.
